Welcome to the ultimate Countdown Numbers Game experience. Get ready to test your maths skills and quick thinking with my interactive game designed to challenge and entertain you. Whether you're here for a serious number crunching session or just a quick break, this game is the perfect mental workout to challenge yourself, or to race your family & friends to the target. Good luck, and remember, it is never impossible so don't give in!

Whilst this game is inspired by UK Channel 4's "Countdown" gameshow, this site has been independently developed and is not associated with Channel 4 or the "Countdown" brand, as pictured below.

How to Play Countdown Numbers Game

You'll be given a set of 6 numbers and a target number to reach. You should combine the smaller numbers using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division to hit the target. The numbers you work with must always be whole numbers and you can only use each of the 6 numbers a single time.

The target number will always be larger than any of the 6 numbers you are given to work with, and the target will always be achievable; unlike other sites and even the show itself. You also get control over how many large numbers you are given from the selection of 25, 50, 75 & 100, as well as control over the target number's size and divisibility.

Can you do it before the time you set runs out? More importantly, can you do it before the others you are playing with, and can you do it using the least numbers? Good luck!

Features

This version of the countdown numbers game offers a variety of features to enhance your playing experience, including customisable timers, a wide range of difficulty options such as the ability to control how the target is set and the number of large numbers you are given.

I recommend playing with 2 large numbers, and restricting the target to be between 200 & 999, whilst also preventing it from being a multiple of 10.

Once you have reached the target, or perhaps have given in, you can view the shortest solution by clicking the button.

Plus, with no signup required, you can jump straight into the action making it great for individuals and schools!

Who Can Play the Countdown Numbers Game?

Everyone can play! This is a great quick game to challenge yourself, or to race your family and friends whislt looking at the same screen to see who can solve the Countdown Numbers Game first!

It is also a perfect classroom resource for primary school maths lessons as it enhances arithmetic skills and gamifies maths ensuring it is fun for each student. Therefore, it makes for a great KS2 maths resource as it can be used easily as a starter activity for Key Stage 2 students.

I personally remember my teacher using these puzzles in Year 4 and it was clear that each student thoroughly enjoyed the competitiveness of it; this maths resource for KS2 ensures this is possible in every classroom with an internet connection, as no effort is required from the teacher side to prepare the puzzles. The generator will guarantee each target can be obtained with the numbers given too, so neither teachers or students need to worry about spending time on an impossible problem; it is always possible!
